A Commitment to the Underserved

What do these diverse organizations - Bridgehampton Childcare and Community Center, OLA, The Retreat and the Shinnecock Indian Health Center - all have in common? Each represents a medically underserved population. And, each is a member of The Ellen Hermanson Community Partnerships, receiving grants from the Foundation to provide education about the importance of early detection, and access to FREE mammography and treatment for its constituents.

1 in 8 Women

Does anyone not know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer – mother, father, sister, brother, spouse, partner, colleague, friend? In this country, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. $1000 provides 8 life-saving screenings. That’s 8 women whose lives could be saved.

For the Love of Ellen

Ellen Hermanson was Julie Ratner’s younger sister. She died of breast cancer at 42 in 1995. Ellen was a courageous and articulate advocate in the fight against breast cancer. In her memory, Julie and their sister Emily Levin established The Ellen Hermanson Foundation to continue Ellen's important work. As the Foundation approaches its 30th anniversary, a contribution of $500 will help ensure its continued success in delivering life-saving and life-affirming initiatives.
